1972 Lilly Raiders Championship Football Team

… championship number 5

The Lilly Raiders won their fifth championship in 1972 in fine fashion. After tying St. Joe’s of Portage in the opening game, the Raiders came back later in the season to seal the title.

Coach Eugene Talko won the title in just his second season of coaching.

These member of the team are welcome at the Lilly Raider Football Championship Reunion Sunday, Sept. 4 at the Lilly Legion. Social will start at 2 p.m.

Mike Kozinski, Ted Kunko, Ray Trybus, Joe Mardula, Tom Miesko (deceased), Tony Pyo, Frank Stossel, Mark Mulhern, Mike McNally, Bill Mulhern, Gary Hooder, Barry Conley, Martin McNally, Bill Claar, Dave Clear, Bob Reese, Pat Leap, Mark Conrad, Tom Przybys, Dick Glenn, John bucynski, Bob George, Blair Robine, Bruce Teeter, Brian Bart (deceased), Ricky Nagle, Duane Hartline.

Coaches: Head Coach Gene Talko, Assistant Mike Felus and Hugh Conrad.

From what I can tell, the team had a 6-1-1 record. In the all-star game, Tom Miesko was named the top offensive player and Frank Stossel the best defender.
